General admission guidelines applicable to all programs:

  • English 30-1
  • Four additional Grade 12 (30, 30-1 or 31) courses
  • Minimum overall average of 70% (75% for Biology and Kinesiology)

Specific program admission guidelines:

  • Applied Science (Engineering) - Mathematics 30-1. Chemistry 30 is required for the certificate program (applicants without Chemistry 30 will be considered individually). Physics 30 recommended.
  • Biology – Mathematics 30-1 or Mathematics 30-2 and Chemistry 30 (applicants without Chemistry 30 will be considered individually). Minimum overall average: 75%.
  • Business Administration – English 30-1 with a minimum 70% and Mathematics 30-1 or Mathematics 30-2.
  • Chemistry – Mathematics 30-1 and Chemistry 30 (applicants without Chemistry 30 will be considered individually).
  • Community Development - Mathematics 30-1 or Mathematics 30-2.
  • Computer Science – Mathematics 30-1 (applicants with only Mathematics 30-2 will be required to successfully complete the non-credit Math 0120 Advanced Pre-University Mathematics in the first semester of the program).
  • Economics – Mathematics 30-1 or Mathematics 30-2.
  • Environmental Geoscience – Mathematics 30-1 or Mathematics 30-2 and Chemistry 30 (applicants without Chemistry 30 will be considered individually).
  • Environmental Science – Mathematics 30-1 or Mathematics 30-2 and Chemistry 30 (applicants without Chemistry 30 will be considered individually).
  • Geology – Mathematics 30-1 or Mathematics 30-2 and Chemistry 30 (applicants without Chemistry 30 will be considered individually).
  • Kinesiology - Mathematics 30-1 or Mathematics 30-2. Minimum overall average: 75%.
  • Mathematics – Mathematics 30-1 with a minimum 70%.
  • Music –All prospective music students will complete a School of Music application. For students interested in the Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Music Therapy degrees, a live (or recorded) audition is required with the application.
  • Nutrition – Mathematics 30-1 or Mathematics 30-2 and Chemistry 30.
  • Physics – Mathematics 30-1. Physics 30 recommended.
  • Psychology - Mathematics 20-1 or Mathematics 20-2.  Mathematics 30-1 or Mathematics 30-2 recommended.

High School Transcript Self-Report of Grades

Students have the opportunity to self-report their transcript information which Acadia will use to assess admission to degree programs. High school applicants must report all academic grade 11 and grade 12 courses along with all available mid-year or final grades. Information provided will be automatically assessed and applicants will be advised of their admissibility to Acadia.

Offers of admission based on self-reported transcript information will be verified with the final official transcript from your high school or provincial Ministry of Education. You should arrange for your final transcript to be sent to Acadia at the end of June. All applicants must have self-reported their course information accurately and must maintain their academic admission average in their final results, otherwise the offer of admission may be withdrawn.

Early Fall admission

Students who have a Grade 11 average of at least 75% may be considered for early fall admission before their first set of Grade 12 marks are available. Students applying for early fall admission should include their final Grade 11 marks and a school-approved list of courses they are taking in Grade 12 (both semesters) with their application. Grade 12 courses must be consistent with the guidelines listed above.

Entrance Scholarships

To be considered for an entrance scholarship an admission application and all required supporting documents for admission must be received in the Admissions Office before March 1.
