Normally, one year of CEGEP study is considered equivalent to Nova Scotia Grade 12 for admission purposes. Students who complete the two-year CEGEP program with a 70% average and receive the DEC will be admitted to the second year of a four-year program. Exceptions may be made for very capable Quebec Secondary V applicants.

General admission guidelines applicable to all programs:

  • CEGEP English courses (2)

  • Minimum average of 70% (75% for Biology and Kinesiology)

Specific program admission guidelines:

  • Applied Science (Engineering) – CEGEP Precalculus Mathematics. CEGEP Chemistry is required for the certificate program (applicants without CEGEP Chemistry will be considered individually). CEGEP Physics recommended.

  • Biology – CEGEP Mathematics and CEGEP Chemistry (applicants without CEGEP Chemistry will be considered individually). Minimum overall average: 75%.

  • Business Administration – CEGEP English with a minimum 70% and CEGEP Mathematics.

  • Chemistry – Precalculus Mathematics and CEGEP Chemistry (applicants without CEGEP Chemistry will be considered individually).

  • Community Development - CEGEP Mathematics.
  • Computer Science –Precalculus Mathematics (applicants with CEGEP Mathematics but not Precalculus will be required to successfully complete the non-credit Math 0120 Advanced Pre-University Mathematics in the first semester of the program).

  • Economics – CEGEP Mathematics.

  • Environmental Geoscience – CEGEP Mathematics and CEGEP Chemistry (applicants without CEGEP Chemistry will be considered individually).

  • Environmental Science – CEGEP Mathematics and CEGEP Chemistry (applicants without CEGEP Chemistry will be considered individually).

  • Geology – CEGEP Mathematics and CEGEP Chemistry (applicants without CEGEP Chemistry will be considered individually).

  • Kinesiology - CEGEP Mathematics. Minimum overall average: 75%.

  • Mathematics – Precalculus Mathematics with a minimum 70%.

  • Music – All prospective music students will complete a School of Music application. For students interested in the Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Music Therapy degrees, a live (or recorded) audition is required with the application.

  • Nutrition – CEGEP Mathematics and CEGEP Chemistry.

  • Physics – Precalculus Mathematics. CEGEP Physics recommended.

  • Psychology – Secondary V mathematics at the 500-level.  CEGEP Mathematics recommended.

Early Fall admission

Students who have a Secondary V average of at least 75% may be considered for early fall admission before their first set of CEGEP marks are available. Students applying for early fall admission should include their final Secondary V marks and an official transcript of courses they are taking in CEGEP with their application.

Entrance Scholarships

To be considered for an entrance scholarship an admission application and all required supporting documents for admission must be received in the Admissions Office before March 1st.
